Title: Fight against water theft by Sindhi Comrade ‘Ghulam Rasool Sehto’

After his hunger strike entered into triple figures days, his determination, fortitude, firmness of purpose and courage has not been ended so far. He is fighting against alleged irrigation water theft in the Sindh province by the feudal lords and their accomplices. On platform of Sindh Hari Committee, a Veteran peasant leader Comrade ‘Ghulam Rasool Sehto’ who has been struggling for farmers’ rights all his life, along with other peasants staged hunger strike for 88 days in Khairpur, Sindh, to force Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to address their grievances, but in vain. After which, Ghulam Rasool Sehto, leader of the committee was of the view that the provincial government of Sindh was not paying attention to their complaints which forced them to protest in the federal capital. Then Sindh Hari Committee, an organization of peasants shifted its movement from Sindh to Islamabad and setup their camp and launched ‘hunger strike till death’ in front of National Press Club. The veteran Comrade leader of peasants is of the view that, at least 300,000 acres of land in Khairpur and around 3,000,000 acres all over Sindh is presently without water despite having a canal system. He explained the reason behind this, that the influential people use the entire water before it reaches the lands owned by the small farmers. He said the aim behind hunger strike is to expose those behind stealing water and allowing funds for ghost schools as well as teachers.
